Staurastrum manfeldtii

St. manfeldtii, a medium-sized, triradiate Staurastrum species, is predominantly characterized by about parallel processes and a semicell body that is cylindrical in its basal part. Ornamentation in the form of spines is confined to the apical part of the semicell and especially marked at the dorsal side of the processes. In the Netherlands, St. manfeldtii is of occasional occurrence in benthos and tychoplankton of slightly acidic, mesotrophic water bodies, particularly fen hollows.
